1. PREPARE SUCCESS-ORIENTED TASKS!
Your students have to experience success to feel motivated to keep working. If they feel that they can’t carry out the task because it is too difficult you will demotivate them.
2. SURPRISE YOUR STUDENTS
Try to make every lesson different. Change the layout of your classroom, just by changing the seating arrangement, your students’ attention will grow a lot. Begin your lesson with a very active warm-up or bringing a “Magic” box to the classroom. If you do such things, you will have already caught their eyes!
3. MAKE IT ACTIVE
Recent research shows that active learning works better than the traditional listening-to-the-teacher model. If you prepare activities where your students have to “do” things, they will learn more, and better
4. MAKE IT COMMUNICATIVE
A good English class is not a quiet class!! Remember! You are teaching a language. Languages were made for communication. Create communicative activities where the students will have to use real language in situations that are close to their real life!
5. DON’T TELL YOUR STUDENTS OFF
Try not to tell off your students. Try the other way round. Praise good behavior of your students. If the bad behavior is too serious, talk to the student after the class. (Read the part of discipline to see different techniques that work!!)
WHAT IS YOUR PIECE OF ADVICE FOR OUR LESSONS????
